The search engines use many strategies to decide how to rank a web site in the search results when someone types a search query into the search box. One of the ways they use to help the decision process is based on the number of links to a site. Generally, the more links to a site the higher it will rank in the results. Webmasters know this, so they actively go out and get as many links as they can to their websites. Because of this the search engines weight links differently. This different weighting is often called link juice. The more link juice the better.
