If your child is prone to atopic dermatitis, or if it tends to run in your family, there may be a way to prevent the onset of this eczema. A possible atopic dermatitis treatment may be to delay the introduction of solid foods until your child is at least 6 months old. You should not introduce any common allergens, like strawberries or peanuts, until the child is at least 1 year old. This will give your child’s immune system time to strengthen and mature before being exposed to any potential allergens. The stronger the immune system, the more your child will be able to withstand a flare up of atopic dermatitis.
