Data Growth Impatct on Data Protection

Why is Data Growth impacting business’ data protection and business continuity strategies?  The first reason is simple, there is more data to protect, which costs more, IT managers are being challenged to find really compelling business cases for putting infrastructure and spending on services or any sort of additional kit they might need so it’s not just a case of add more kit, the more data there is, obviously the more storage is required to store it and that’s a real challenged when you’ve got budget cuts in the business. A second reason is because we’re seeing a lot of distributed data at the moment, market trends such as globalization and just having an increased amount of data around on lap tops or remote offices or branch offices means there is more data to protect and that can be very, very complex. The third reason is because backing up is taking longer, and storing takes longer and business can only tolerate a certain amount of down time to do backups and a lot of business have very strict requirements regarding their backup and so technology needs to be more efficient, operations need to be more efficient to make sure the back ups are going to occur in the time required by the business.
